Sehee Kim is a painter and an interdisciplinary artist primarily focused on making abstract works. She explores the question of being in her work through embodied use of material and provides physical context for the spectator to experience the work with one's essence in existence: the body. She completed her bachelor's degree in Studio Art at Hunter College. She finished her MFA degree at Stony Brook University in 2024. In Fall 2015, she was awarded a Kossak Painting Fellowship and Beatrice and Raymond Liebesman Completion Scholarship in Spring 2016. In 2023, she received Kusama Art Award and Dorothy G. Pieper Memorial Purchase Prize. In 2024, she was awarded Howardena Pindell Excellence Award. She currently works in Queens, New York. |
